To Worship God

o SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION

Prepares parents, godparents, sponsors, candidates and others for the important role each plays in the sacraments of Baptism, First Eucharist, First Reconciliation, Confirmation, and Marriage.

o RCIA

Assists prospective converts to Catholicism in The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), a process developed by the Catholic Church for individuals who are searching and inquiring about the Catholic way of life.

o LITURGY COMMITTEE

Directs the people’s hearts and minds for their conscious and active participation in the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, Sacraments and prayer services.

o FUNERAL MINISTRY

Acts as parish liaison for families in the planning of the Funeral Liturgy via our Funeral Planning Guide. Provides all pertinent information and helps coordinate the service, music, altar servers, the funeral luncheon team.

o FUNERAL LUNCHEON MINISTRY

In an attempt to offer a caring presence and provide a place of comfort for the family and friends of a deceased one, the parish has established the tradition of offering a place to gather together after the funeral for a lunch or continental breakfast when possible.

o ALTAR SERVERS

Any parishioner in grade 3 and above may serve at parish liturgies once training is completed.

o GREETING MINISTRY

Warmly greets & welcomes all people that enter through the church doors of St. Pius Tenth & assists with outside help if needed.  Makes all guests feel accepted, recognized, informed, and most of all feel their visit is appreciated.

o MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION

Assists in the distribution of Eucharist at Mass and to shut-ins and the sick once training is completed.

o LECTORS

Lectors proclaim scripture readings at all Masses and special liturgies.  Training is provided for any confirmed parishioner.

o SACRISTAN

Maintains church vessels and vestments, sets the table for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.

o USHERS

Provides a warm welcoming environment as well as a helping hand for those attending Mass.

o MUSIC MINISTRY

Enhances church liturgies through music and song, and encourages active participation in the Mass by those gathered. Music ministries include, Adult Choir, Children’s choir and Folk group.

o CHILDRENS LITURGY

Promotes spiritual growth and community by providing an age-appropriate gospel message for pre-K through 4th grade children during Mass.

To Illuminate our Faith

o CHARISMATIC PRAYER GROUP

Meets weekly to praise, worship, thank and honor Our Lord Jesus Christ. The men and women in our group share in the joy of the Holy Spirit as we minister to each other.

o LADIES OF GRACE, WOMENS BIBLE STUDY

Provides weekly opportunities for women to experience a closer relationship with Christ through the study of His word, and greater understanding of the teachings of the Catholic Church.

o FISHERS OF MEN

Men ministering to men in fellowship; men who pray together, but not just a prayer group; men of faith, but not just a faith group; men who offer support, but not just a support group.

o WEDNESDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY

Small faith community supports one another in the discipline of preparing for each Sunday’s scripture readings.

o PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY

Handmade knitted and crochet items given as a comfort for those coping with an illness or grieving a loss or celebrating a milestone. Our knitting sessions weave our hearts and souls together as witnesses to God’s love.

o FAITH FORMATION FOR CHILDREN

Assists parents as the primary catechist for their children by supporting each child’s growth in knowing and loving Christ, in understanding our faith, and in inspiring them to live as followers of Jesus.

o YOUTH MINISTRY

Helps empower young Catholics to live as Christ’s disciples, drawing them into active participation in the life, mission and work of our Catholic community.

To Make New Disciples of Christ

o TUESDAY MORNING COFFEE HOURS

At St. Pius Tenth Church, we love food and fellowship!  Twice monthly on a Tuesday after the Daily 8:30 Mass, parishioners gather in the Parish Center for coffee and donuts.  Check the bulletin for dates.  Come & join our friendly parishioners.

o WELCOMING COMMITTEE

Welcomes and engages new members to St Pius X Church while promoting fellowship and discipleship among all parishioners.

o MINISTERS TO THE HOMEBOUND/ HOSPITAL VISITATION

Reaches out to those parishioners who are homebound due to illness, surgery or advanced age. Prayer and Communion along with companionship are a vital part of this ministry. Organizes and implements pastoral visits to parishioners in area hospitals.

o GREETING CARD MAILING

Reaches out by mailing get-well cards to parishioners in the hospital and sympathy cards to families at the time of a loved one’s death.

o SEASONED PEOPLE

Promotes friendship and goodwill among members through regular gatherings, activities and fellowship.

o HOLY GROUNDS CAFE

Helps fulfill and further reflect the scope and mission of SPX:  to grow an active, spirited and engaged parish via a Christ-centered, people-focused café after Sunday masses.

o COUNTRY FAIR & FLEA MARKET

Through teamwork, commitment and fellowship the country fair and flea market committees assist in the mission of the parish by raising necessary funds via the annual community-wide event.

o PASTA SUPPER

Our purpose is to build “community” by annually “breaking bread together” in a community-wide fundraising event designed to support our parish center.

o MEN’S GROUP

Fosters fellowship and camaraderie among the men of St Pius Tenth via gatherings for prayer, social events and fulfilling general needs of the parish.

o SOCIAL EVENTS

With a growing, engaged parish comes new ideas and new initiatives. Our purpose is to help enable that those events and activities happen with necessary support and parish involvement.

o SCOUTING

We provide opportunities for boys and girls to achieve the principles of scouting in Christ-centered programs promoting leadership, community service, self- reliance, and personal growth.

In Jesus Christ

o ALTAR LINENS

Provides for care and laundering of the Altar Linens on a rotating basis.

o CYO ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Assists the Athletic Director with the implementation of  CYO-based programs in the parish, ensuring that the mission of CYO and its programs are carried out in a timely manner.

o COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE

Facilitates external and internal communication within the parish and community, advocating for the St. Pius Tenth mission for the sake of the Gospel and the growth of the parish.  Also supports parish evangelization via technology and communications, including website development and maintenance,  AV, computers/software and social media.

o DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

Promotes the financial well-being of the parish by assisting in the planning and promotion of efforts regarding weekly giving, estate planning, fundraising, capital campaigns and reserve funds.

o FACILITIES COMMITTEE

Parish Business Manager, Facilities Coordinator, and volunteers with facilities expertise assist in overseeing and accomplishing St. Pius Tenth facility needs.

o PARISH COUNCIL

As chosen representatives for the parish, we inspire worship, promote outreach, provide stewardship, and facilitate evangelization of our parish and community.

o FAITH FORMATION

Works with Directors of FF & Youth Ministry to organize comprehensive lifelong FF ministry at St. Pius Tenth Parish. Provides insight to & evaluation of current programs to help secure the personal and spiritual development of children, youth, young adults, and adults in their Catholic faith.

o LOCAL SCHOOL ADVISORY COMMITTEE (LSAC)

Promotes the Christ-centered, caring, learning atmosphere that is the fundamental reason why St. Pius Tenth School exists.

o STEPHEN MINISTRY

Provides one-to-one Christian care to members of our parish and our community who are experiencing grief, loneliness, divorce, disability, job loss and many other life difficulties.

o ST. PIUS TENTH CEMETERY

Volunteers committed to economically and efficiently maintaining and improving the beauty of our cemetery.

o SOCIAL MINISTRY

Identifies and responds to the needs of anyone in and outside our parish community, including but not limited to food drives, Christmas giving tree, and support for various local organizations.   

o BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS

Advises parish leadership on property maintenance, construction and renovation issues while utilizing volunteer work groups to enhance parish buildings and grounds.

o HANDMAIDS

Volunteer work groups are responsible for the weekly cleaning and upkeep of our church’s gathering and worship spaces.

o FINANCE AND LEGAL COUNCIL

Mandated consultative body advises pastoral leadership concerning the stewardship of our parish’s financial resources.

o ART AND ENVIRONMENT

Lends beauty to God’s house, thus inspiring those who gather for worship throughout the church seasons.

o YOUTH MINISTRY ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The mission of the Youth Ministry Advisory Committee is to coordinate and develop a vision for total youth ministry at St. Pius Tenth Parish. Young people and adults assist the Youth Ministry Director in developing opportunities for young people to live out their Catholic faith in age appropriate ways.
